Don Boswell is a retired law enforcement administrator and technology manager who has lived in Twin Hickory in western Henrico County since 2000 and served on the HOA Board of Directors since 2016. He has also served on the Virginia Legislative Action Committee since 2016 and was elected President of VALAC in 2022. Don served on the CVC Nominating Committee in 2020 and the Education Committee in 2021 before being elected to the Board for 2022 and received his CMCA in 2020.

He retired in 2013 after serving as the law enforcement Deputy Director for Virginia ABC and then Director for Virginia DMV. He was the elected Sheriff of Henrico County and a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal before his state service. Prior to his law enforcement career, Don was a technician with the Virginia State Police, an engineer for ITT and an installation, service and then a branch manager for IBM.

Don has been a lifelong community leader in many civic, community, political and public service organizations. He is a past president of the West End Jaycees, West Richmond Kiwanis and Sandston Rotary clubs. He was recognized by the Jaycees as the 1989 Outstanding Young Richmond Citizen and as a 1990 Outstanding Young Virginian. Don is a 1992 Leadership Metro Richmond and 2006 Virginia Executive Institute graduate. He was the elected Henrico County Republican Chairman in 1990 and again in 2016.

Don holds several degrees from VCU ending with a Ph.D. degree in public policy and administration with a concentration in criminal justice. He is a past adjunct professor at VCU in criminal justice and Strayer University in business administration.

Nick Gianoulis is the founder of the fun dept., a consulting and training company that has been featured on CNN, BBC News, Washington Post, TEDx and numerous other media outlets. Its clients range from Fortune 100 companies to those with as few as 10 employees. Known as “The Godfather of Fun,” he founded the company in 2006 after experiencing firsthand the enhanced culture and business results during his 20-year corporate management tenure with a company that embraced a “work hard, play hard” culture. The model he believes so passionately in is outlined in the book he co-authored, "Playing it Forward".

His company is considered a pioneer in the industry creating brief, consistent and engaging programming for their clients with long term sustainable results. Always one step ahead, Gianoulis and his team create innovative and award-winning solutions for in-person, remote and hybrid workplaces.

Mr. Rinard has been a counselor, litigator and debt collector for property owners’ associations and condominiums in Northern Virginia and Fredericksburg for over 18 years. Boards of directors can rely on his prompt legal advice at meetings often in executive session, in-between meetings over privileged communications, or to explain general legal principals at annual meetings of members when asked by the presiding officer.

As legal matters are typically contentious, Mr. Rinard also has extensive experience representing associations before tribunals such as the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Circuit Courts and General District Courts in Virginia, Virginia’s Common Interest Community Ombudsman and local counties’ Board of Supervisors. Virginia Code compliance and enforcement of covenant violations are frequent issues that he litigates.

Mr. Rinard is cost conscious in collecting debts owed to associations by quickly moving forward with litigation to prompt payment of assessments by delinquent owners. He has maintained dockets for unpaid assessments every month for the last 10 years in Stafford County and Spotsylvania County, and quarterly or less in Fredericksburg, Culpeper County and Orange County. He frequently files lawsuits for unpaid assessments in Fairfax County and Prince William County too.

With his colleagues, Mr. Rinard enjoys being a frequent speaker to managers, boards of directors and other owners.

Steve is also the Training School Director for the AUS Training License for Central Virginia. He
maintains a collaborative partnership with stakeholders who rely on him to meet specific training
needs.
Steve is retired Local Law Enforcement. His career in law enforcement involved many
levels of experience ranging from Jail Operations, Court Security/Civil Process, Patrol Work,
Narcotics & Gang Task Force, Fugitive Recovery Task Force, Tactical Operations,
Investigations, Field Training, Search & Rescue, Academy Instructor, and various Command
Level Positions.
Steve comes to AUS with over 32 years of experience in public safety. Steve’s career
also includes distinct experience in the private security sector to include Security Practitioner,
Consultant, Special Conservator of the Peace, Supervisor Levels (including Corporal, Sergeant,
1st Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major), Account and Project Management, Government
Services Division Manager, and Regional Training Director.

Jerry M. Wright, Jr. is a principal in the firm’s Richmond (Glen Allen) office and joined the firm in 2003. His practice is devoted to community association law, providing counsel and advice to the firm’s clients on matters such as covenant enforcement, contracts, transition from developer, fair housing, collections, and general real estate law. Having come to the firm from the Supreme Court of Virginia, where he served the Court as Senior Staff Attorney, Jerry also provides counsel from an appellate perspective to the firm’s litigation clients.

Jerry is actively involved with the Central Virginia, Southeastern Virginia and Southwestern Virginia and Washington Metropolitan Chapters of the Community Associations Institute (“CAI”). Jerry has taught and frequently teaches classes and on community association law and legislation, including seminars for the CAI National Conference, CAI’s Community Association Law Seminar, the Virginia Leadership Retreat, and all four CAI Chapters in the Commonwealth. Jerry serves as Chair of CAI’s Virginia Legislative Action Committee, a cooperative joint effort among the four CAI Chapters in Virginia, coordinating CAI’s legislative efforts with the Virginia General Assembly each year. Jerry also sits on the Virginia Housing Commission’s Common Interest Community Work Group, Housing and Environmental Standards Work Group, and Neighborhood Transitions and Residential Land Use Work Group.
